Red Badge Recipients

Congratulations and welcome to our newest Red Badge Recipients:

Danielle Lammon

Aurora Ogg

Blue Badge Recipient

Congrats to member Bill Holen on receipt of his Blue Badge.  Glad to have you as a member.

Member Karlyn Shorb introduced Sister Cities new intern Maria.

Member Linda Witulski wanted to thank all the members that helped with State of The City.  It was a tremendous success.

Foundation Update - Member Rick Richards presented a check for $2500 grant to Rich Crandall, Chairman of Colorado Freedom Memorial.   This is a living monument located in Aurora at 756 Telluride Street.    There will be a ceremony for Gold Star families and the Gold Star Families Memorial(pictured).  This is a great endeavor and there are opportunities to support these veterans.  Please see the button below for more details.

Danielle also presented a 10K check to the club for Red Tailed Hawk Park from Allstate.  She is working to see if that can be matched, so there might be some additional funds to support the park.
Jim presenting Blue Badge to Bill Holen and Red Badges to Danielle Lammon and Aurora Ogg.
Anne presenting Hof Rotary Flag to Jim and Club.
rotary exchange student Anne Starke
year in review 2018/2019

Anne shared about her hometown and some of the reasons she decided to take this year as an exchange student.  Anne is Hof, which is a town located on the banks of the Salle in the northeastern corner of the German state of Bavaria in the Franconia region, at the Czech border and has nearly 50.000 inhabitants.  It is known for their sausage sellers on the streets and the area beauty.

Anne explained some of her reasons for wanting to go on an exchange trip:

  •  Try something new and scary
  •  Experiencing different lifestyle and culture
  •  Becoming more self sufficient
  •  Wanted to procrastinate life :)
  •  Wanted to find herself
  •  Make life-long friendships
Challenges she experienced:
  • Homesickness
  • Feeling of not belonging anywhere
  • Having to represent my home country...always
  • Scared and excited to go home
Best parts of her experience:
  • Meeting other exchange students
  • Her two host families - The Kleins and Kruschwitzes.  She has loved spending time with these families.
  • School friends
    • Sound of Music play, which she would never have done in Hof
    • Lacrosse
  • Rotary Exchange - Meeting the great connections from the club, spending time with members and all the support the club has provided.
Overall, Anne has had a great experience and wants to thank everyone in the club for everything we have done for her through the year.  Anne, we want to thank you for being a wonderful young woman and German exchange student.

Member Joel Kruschwitz and his family will be having a final send off for Anne at their home.  See below:
