Aurora Public Schools have their Kindles.
Peter Ewing, Dist. 5450 PDG, has been surveying
clubs to see how many volunteer hours that club
has put in in the last year. Past President Rob
McGregor has been compiling the hours.
President Patti Bateman will be looking for volunteers
to head up each title in the visioning document to
insure they happen and have the resources for each
title.
Aurora Rotary is fortunate that it is big enough
so everybody doesn't have to do everything as in
smaller clubs, but everybody has to do something.

Bill Fong, guest of Thiensa Nguyen, said he was
here to check out Rotary. We hope he liked what
he found out. Brad Pierce, membership chair,
has been following up with guests to see if he
can answer other questions. Thiensa and Chris
Price look on.

SECOR
Feeding Children in Poverty
Mike Dworak talked about suburban poverty what
it looks like, and its extent in APS and Cherry Creek.
SECOR stands for Southeast Community Outreach
and is a faith based organization that provides:
Free food
Financial counseling
Financial aid
Individual counseling
Free Dental
to those in poverty These children come to school
not having eaten and of course aren't ready
to learn. SECOR is feeding 600 children
a week. It costs $ 10 a week to feed a child.
SECOR has a staff of 5 and about 120 volunteers.
