     Peaceful Schools

The idea is to try combat violence in the world.
Students can solve conflicts and problems
peacefully if they are taught language, skills,
and given models.
Kimberly said :
1 in 4 students are bullied.
15% of absences are due to fear of being bullied.
Suicides are related to bullying sometimes.
This is a district wide program and uses a
modified 4 WAy Test for 1st, 2nd , and 3rd
graders.:,
Before think, say or do something
ask yourself:
Is it true?
Is it fair to everyone?
Will it help make better friends?
Will it be good for everyone?

Kimberly said that male role models are important
in class rooms.
Volunteers have to be background checked for
their and the children's safety.
It's important that another adult is in the room
while you are there.  She cautioned people to
give "side hugs" instead of full frontal hugs.
There are books and songs to help with the
program.  Problems are introduced and the
students are asked "How would you feel about
that?"  Can you use the 4 Way Test to help
solve the problem.
At the end, the volunteer or teacher can ask:
"What did you like? What did you learn?"
