Bessie's Hope
Linda Holloway, Co-founder of Bessie's Hope talked
about at risk youth that have been directed to Bessie's Hope.
The students are instructed how to make elderly residents
in nursing homes feel comfortable with these students
visiting them.
Linda said that 60% of the residents in nursing homes
have no relatives or friends come to talk to them.
The visiting opportunity for these students give them
purpose and serve a real need for nursing home
residents.
Linda used Joel Kruschwitz as a nursing home resident and
described how the students interacted with them.
The rules the students use:
Take their hands and look into their eyes.
Introduce yourself
End with the "hug train"
