Youth Career Development Services
Arrah Gallaher and Mark Tapy are managers
of Youth Career Development Services, a division
of Goodwill Industries ofDenver.
The classes are taught in schools but not a
part of the school. The classes are elective.
Students are partnered with a man who
provides a male perspective that is missing
from most of their lives. The mentor spends
one hour a week for two semesters with his
partner.
The mentors talk about their jobs, how they
got them and what it takes to qualify for these jobs.
The students hold mock interviews, portfolio
interviews and resume workshops.
The programs are held in Emily Griffith
High School,  Gateway High School,
Hinkley High School, and
Northglenn High School.
These programs are complex and
comprehensive and cover too much
to be presented in this newsletter.
