Ken Hostetler
Vocational Talk
Ken has had a very interesting history. Ken was born in Belleville Illinois. His dad was a pilot during WWII. He fkew 62 missions over Italy.and earned the Distinguished
Flying Cross. His family moved to France when he was four. He became fluent in French and then forgot it when he got home. He retained enough to get straight As in French in high school. Ken's first job was a a filling station. He got held up twice.
He got a BS from CSU in Range Forest Management. He was a fire fighter and became
an incident commander. Ken had several "firsts"
he is proud of:
Brought a command system to Colo.
Did rural cellular sales.
Introduced the first digital phone
(the old "brick")
First consolidated Internet to Colo.
Introduced first "flip phone" that
cost $2300.
Kens ancestors were Amish. A number of them were massacred in Pennsylvania. The ones that weren't became his ancestors. He married Jan.
Jan's family had a ranch (15,000 acres) in Springfield, Colo. They sold the ranch but kept
the ranch house and maintained it.
