Due to the increase in Covid-19 infections Governor Polis implemented new restriction preventing us from meeting in person until further noticeWe will continue to meet virtually using the same Zoom link below. Look for an email Thursday mornings from Kimberly Armitage detailing next steps.
President Phil Gibson and Membership Chair Brad Pierce presented the coveted Eagle Award to Aurora Fire Rescue Chief Jepkes. During the final inspection at a fire response on May 29th, Chief Jepkes went above the call of duty by mopping up water to prevent a slip and fall injury. That's leadership by example! Congratulation Chief Jepkes.
Member Rick Richard thanked the membership for our Foundation support and reminded us that December is Rotary Foundation donation month. We are about a third of the way toward our goal. Please help the Rotary Club of Aurora meet its $4500 goal. Remember these contributions help with things like funding exchange students and 90.8% of donations go straight to projects.
If you want to take advantage of your donation on your 2020 taxes you need to get the form and payment to Rick in the next couple of days. It takes a while for him to get the donation to Rotary International so it can be counted for this year.
Just fill out a Rotary Foundation Donation form and send it with your check/credit card number to Rick at 3800 South Elkhart St. Aurora, CO 80014. Kimberly will be sending a separate communication with the form attached.

If you're wondering how close you are to your next, or first, Paul Harris, Rick can look that up for you. Thank you so much for your support to this worthy cause!

President Phil Gibson presented these new Rotarian with their Red Badge:
  • Daniel Olvera-Leal whose mentor is John Wolfkill
  • Adam Kehl whose mentor is Tom Klein
  • Josh Hultman whose mentor is David Dreibelbis
Congratulations to our new Rotarians and a great big thank you to the mentors!!
Member Tom Klein gave a sincerely thank you for all who volunteered to ring the Salvation Army bell this year. All slots are full. Last weekend we raised in excess of $3900.
Member Sam LeMar announced the Salvation Army received a grant from Arapahoe County. Even with that generosity, they are about $100,000 behind a normal year, mostly because of a lack of bell ringers. The need is great and the resources are low. The Salvation Army is providing about 140 food boxes/day to those in need. That will be 40,000 boxes of food by the end of the year. They are also about to begin their toy distribution. 400-500 families will receive 18,000 toys. If you would like to volunteer to ring the bell outside the Rotary commitment, contact Sam and he'll hook you up.
Member George Peck is actively working on the annual State of the Base lunch. Mark your calendars for January 20,2021 and look for more details to come.
Remember we will not meet 12/23 or 12/30. See you next year!
