Theresa Mazza shared with us the vision of Hope House.
Since 2003 they have developed an organization to provide a better future for teen moms. They opened a Residential Program in Arvada providing self-sufficiency program as well as a stable home for teen moms to strive, resulting in a healthy future for them and their children. All services provided at Hope House are free of charge and these women work very hard to achieve their goals. Hope house receives 150 Crisis calls every year. 67% of teen moms live below the federal poverty line and for teen moms there isn't a place for them to go. Hope House provides them for a safe place to live along with the support to grow and flourish. When these women graduate from the Residential program they are ready to support themselves and their child(ren). Their GED program was launched in 2007 and has been a tremendous success in building up teen moms. In 2013 their Resource Center opened located in Westminster. This has allowed Hope House to support additional teen moms. The Resource Center Programs include:
GED Program
College & Career Program
Healthy Relationships Program
Parenting Program
Life Skills Workshop
Certified Counseling
Financial Literacy classes
Early Learning Program for the children of teen moms
These programs help break the chain of poverty through education and support. These moms can go through the program at their own pace and do not get kicked out based on life's developments. These women also develop skills in technical fields such as engineering, health sciences, and business allowing them to support themselves and their children. They stick with these women until the age of 24.
