Announcements
Due to the increase in Covid-19 infections Governor Polis implemented new restriction preventing us from meeting in person until further noticeWe will continue to meet virtually using the same Zoom link below. Look for an email Thursday mornings from Kimberly Armitage detailing next steps.
--------------------
President Phil Gibson instituted a new process for those that join the meeting early. We were placed in smaller breakout rooms to allow for more intimate conversations than 35 zoom participants allows. The feedback was extremely positive so this will continue for the foreseeable future. Let member David Dreibelbis know if you have ideas about creative room names. This should be fun!
--------------------
We have some sad news fellow Rotarians. The Rotary Club of Aurora lost member Richard Schutt over the holidays. Please reach out to his family to offer condolences. We will miss you Dick!

That's pretty impressive! We averaged $153/hour for our 165 hours of volunteerism. The Salvation Army is still $40,000 short of its fundraising goal. Fortunately that shortfall has been backfilled with grants and other fundraising activities.

In other Salvation Army news, this worldwide pandemic has added a layer of complexity to doing the good work this organization does. With only three team members, the Aurora Salvation Army distributed12,000 food boxes since 12/13, that’s 164k meals. 400 families also received toys this holiday season. We are proud to support Sam and the great service his organization provides those in need in Aurora. The sad news is that 60% of the families they are serving are new to the program.
--------------------
Member Linda Witulski stated that the book boxes we contributed to are going up. How exciting for those neighborhoods!
--------------------
Not mentioned during the meeting but still worthy of mentioning is Honorary Member Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman's efforts to understand the plight of homelessness in Aurora. CBS Denver ran a story about him going under cover to help with this understanding. Click here to watch the interview.
