Our first virtual Zoom meeting was bumpy, but successful. We had guests from our Rotary Club friends in Westminster, Colorado Springs, and DG Curt Harris. Thanks everyone for being a part of our first virtual meeting, it was great seeing a few faces. If you didn't see an Aurora member, please shoot them a text, phone call, Facebook message, or whatever format you feel comfortable to get them on the next meeting.
Please take a look at the Birthdays and Anniversaries below. Wishing everyone a joyful birthday, anniversary and thank you for your commitments to Rotary as a member for those that have join date anniversaries. We have a few big ones this month as you will see below.
Tyler Kingsbury - Self Love Tool For Perfectionists
When making goals, many of us are motivated by our insecurities. We allow what we see as our imperfections determine what we need to change about ourselves. What if instead we were motivated by self-love and because we wanted to expand on our inherent value? We struggle with eating disorders, depression, anxiety and suicidal ideation. Tyler Kingsbury, our speaker this week via Zoom, believes that these issues can be driven and/or made worse by an irrational desire to seek perfection. She welcomes you to try a simple tool that acts as a standing point from which to build relevant goals based on what you care about. These goals are independent of the pressure to be perfect. If we can shift our focus and start to pay attention to loving ourselves, we can start to combat negative self-talk and manifest more meaningful and fulfilling lives.
Thank you Tyler for sharing your thoughts, answering questions, and willingness to be a part of our first Zoom session.
