WE ARE MEETING VIA ZOOM FOR THE REST OF 2020. 38 members joined us virtually this week.
Guests Via Zoom
Kendra Merritt - Member of Gateway Rotary Club, guest of Nubia Madrid
Deputy Sheriff Amanda Cruz - Guest Speaker
Due to the increase in Covid-19 infections Governor Polis implemented new restriction preventing us from meeting in person for the remainder of the yearWe will continue to meet virtually using the same Zoom link below. Look for an email Thursday mornings from Kimberly Armitage detailing next steps.
Member Kimberly Armitage announced that because we had to cancel the in-person Christmas Party she plans a COVID coming out party in February. We need something to look forward to for sure!
Please remember we are still ringing the bell for Salvation Army this year. There are still some spots available for you to sign up to help this worthy cause. We are volunteering every Saturday and Sunday plus Christmas Eve. Go to
to sign up. Remember you must purchase a kit complete with an apron, bell, mask and hand sanitizer for $20 in order to participate.
Member Sam LaMar updated us on what we've gathered so far. The Interact Club received $375.79 in donation at the Iliff and Buckley location. The six young volunteers had never participated before and are eager to do more. That's why we have an Interact Club!
Last Saturday the Southlands King Sooper brought in $875.37 while the Himalaya location received $882.23 in donations. Sunday netted a total of $270.00 Our club is very generous. So far our big donors include members Bob Barrow at $2500, Doug Evans gave $5000 and Pattie Bateman donated $1000. The Aurora Red Kettle current contains $6853. Thank you all!
If you are not able or comfortable with bell ringing, you can still donate at the Virtual Red Kettle. Just go to
Member Sam LaMar mentioned that the Salvation Army has given out  more that 11,000 meals since March. That's twice what they normally distribute. The need is greater than ever. If you would like to help out a family this holiday season, simply go here. Thank you!
Member Rick Richard reminded us that December is Rotary Foundation donation month. As with most things in 2020, donation solicitation will look different this year since we won't be meeting in person. Please help the Rotary Club of Aurora meet its $4500 goal. Remember these contributions help with things like funding exchange students and 90.8% of donations go straight to projects. Just fill out a Rotary Foundation Donation form found here and send it with your check/credit card number to Rick at 3800 South Elkhart St. Aurora, CO 80014

If you're wondering how close you are to your next, or first, Paul Harris, Rick can look that up for you. Thank you so much for your support to this worthy cause!

Member Linda Witulski informed us of a new volunteer opportunity. The Interact Club invited us to participate in a Virtual Book Reading at Dalton Elementary School. Here are the details...
Dalton is hosting a Read Aloud Event during the week of December 14th-17th in which they are asking members of the Aurora community to read their favorite childhood text to a class they are assigned.
They are asking volunteers to: Choose one day they are available the week of December 14th-December 17th.   Identify a 2-hour window that you can be available: 8-10 am, 10-12 am, 12-2 pm.   You will read  your  favorite childhood book or another great read-aloud with which you are familiar with.
You will be assigned to two classrooms to read the book (15 minutes in each classroom.)  Then Q&A (If you are brave enough to ask the students if they have any questions.) To join, text @daltonread to 81010.
Member Kimberly Armitage reminded us to please fill out the member survey. Your responses will guide the programs committee to ensure we have 2021 programs that are on interest to you, the member. Just click here to give your insight.
President Phil send information about restructuring the dues because of this unprecedently year. Here's what he has to say.
"As many of you know, due to the recent change in COVID status to red and the Radisson requirement to close down their restaurant for our meetings, we have been forced to move back to fulltime to the Zoom platform for our meetings.  We will be meeting via Zoom for all meetings in December(2nd, 9th, and 16th) and potentially into January as well dependent upon the status.   Please look for David's emails that will have the link and time for our meetings.  Your club board wants to insure safety for all members and will keep you all informed on any decisions related to in person meeting.

As a board we also discussed adjustment of member dues during this time.  Your willingness to support the club by maintaining your dues during the first wave of COVID should be commended and speaking for the board we are all thankful that through this support our club financials have stabilized.   Some members were unaware of the financial strain the club was experiencing earlier in the year and the need to raise our dues for both active and corporate members to begin to meet expenses the club incurs, but to also stabilize our financials.   I would like to personally apologize to those of you that did not receive information concerning these changes either in person, via Zoom, newsletter, call or in an email.  This was simply an oversight and not intended to slight any member.   COVID and YOUR willingness to maintain your dues during March through June timeframe actually were a benefit to the club's finances, which we can all agree is a double edged sword.   We also respect that many business owners/members are having a tough time due to current restrictions and their ability to engage with the club and its members has been limited.

For this reason, we as the board would like to provide an opportunity to request a $50 dues variance for the January-March invoice.  All active and corporate members will receive a Credit Form from Kimberly via ClubRunner.    Please complete this form by December 15th.  This information will be provided to the club bookkeeper to make an adjustment in your invoice for January-March.  This is an optional request and not required for a member to complete if your desire is to maintain your current dues structure.
Again, thank you for your support of the Rotary Club of Aurora.  If you have any questions concerning this email please do not hesitate to reach out to me or any other board member."
Here's some good news about member Tom Kiein and his very special restaurant. We can sure use some good news right about now. Congratulations Tom! Check it out here. Being from Chicago myself, I can't wait to go there!
Member Danielle Lammon is conducting a bicycle donation drive for the organization she volunteers for…A Precious Child. She and other All State agencies plan to donate 40-60 bikes/year.
