In order to keep Zoom participants engaged, the board has restructured the hybrid weekly meetings. The meeting will start at the usual time, 12:15 with Invocation, 4-Way Test, Pledge of Allegiance, and God Bless America. Next President Phil will welcome our guests, provide announcements, and proceed to the speaker for their presentation. The in-person attendees will be enjoying lunch during this process, which has historically been a time of socializing and networking.  The thought is for members to take some time at the end of the meeting around 1pm to socialize/network and enjoy each other's company (in person and on Zoom). This approach was used with great success this week and will continue for the foreseeable future.
President Phil Gibson reported that the Virtual RI President's Lunch was very well attended. In fact the event helped blow past October Polio Giving goal of $40,000 by raising...ready?...$100,000!! Congratulations and thank you!
President Phil announced some upcoming opportunities to learn more about Rotary.

Kimberly Armitage reported that the Christmas Party is still on for Saturday December 19th. She is checking to make sure we can stay within the capacity requirements. Stay tuned.
Danielle Lammon thanked everyone for their hard work during the Aurora Day of Giving. We helped fill 1600 cars to help feed those in need during this hard time.
Kimberly Armitage informed us that the YMCA needs all the donations they can get. They lost a couple of buildings at the Y of the Rockies outside Winter Park. Sad situation indeed.

Guest Speaker, Major Mike Dickinson, Salvation Army
Major Mike started his presentation by giving a shout out to our very own President Phil Gibson. Phil has been involved with the Salvation Army for many years and is the Advisory Council Chairperson. The Major also recognized Rotary member Sam LaMar for his years of dedicated service to the Salvation Army. Major Mike went on to thank the Rotary Club of Aurora for our years of support. Last season our bell-ringers raised in excess of $27,000! Way to go club!
During this presentation Major Mike talked about the hotels the Salvation Army manages for those in need of shelter. They have big plans for the future too. Click here to learn more about the partnership the Salvation Army has with the City of Denver. There's an interesting Q&A session at the end too. Enjoy!
