Aurora Fire Safety Trailer Project

Aurora Rotary Foundation Launches Campaign to Raise $200,000 for Fire Safety Trailer

Aurora, CO – The Aurora Rotary Foundation is excited to announce a fundraising initiative with the goal of raising $200,000 to support the development of a state-of-the-art Educational Fire Safety Trailer for Aurora Fire Department. This vital community project will provide an interactive platform for fire safety education. The trailer will visit Aurora’s elementary schools, offering young students essential fire safety lessons and skills. By making fire safety education more accessible to local schools and community events, the Aurora Fire Rescue Department and Rotary Clubs aim to significantly reduce the risk of fire-related incidents. This project aligns with the comprehensive Community Risk Reduction (CRR) framework and will directly contribute to the safety and well-being of Aurora’s residents.

The Aurora Rotary Foundation is dedicated to improving the community through service projects that address a wide range of needs, including health, education, and public safety. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the Foundation relies on the generosity of individuals and organizations to support its mission of making a meaningful impact in Aurora and beyond.

About the Fire Safety Education Trailer
The Fire Safety Education Trailer is designed to simulate realistic fire scenarios, including a bedroom, kitchen, and entryway, allowing participants to experience fire drills, escape routes, and emergency responses. Features such as smoke machines, heated doors, and escape ladders offer a comprehensive training experience. Through this mobile education tool, firefighters will teach essential skills such as crawling under smoke, feeling doors before opening them, and the importance of smoke alarms. The trailer will also serve as a visual reminder for individuals to think critically about fire safety and ensure their families have a fire escape plan.

Project Funding and Support

This $200,000 goal is necessary to equip the Fire Safety Trailer with a full range of desired features, ensuring its role in community education. We are proud to announce that the Aurora Rotary Foundation has committed to covering any project shortfall to guarantee that this important endeavor will be completed as planned.

“The Educational Fire Safety Trailer is an investment in the future of our community,” said Aurora Fire Chief, Alec Oughton. “It’s going to help save lives and build awareness, especially among our children who will carry these lessons into their future.”

The Aurora Rotary Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, will direct all donations directly to the Fire Safety Trailer project. Contributions of any size are welcomed, and major donor levels are available. Those interested in learning more about the major donor opportunities can email Sheila at CommunityProjects@AuroraRotary.com.
